Colonial Figure, 19th Century Lower Congo
Standing man with Round brimmed hat, Western tunick w. collar,short pants, briefcase, staff of authority in right hand, and no shoes. Standing on round raised plinth, with incised diamond zig-zag pattern incised on flat rim. Fine worn, smooth brown surface and patina. The broad brim hat was cracked on rear and native repaired. Head is round, face is protruding outward from nose to mouth to the receding forehead. Almond eyes with incised curved eyebrow, against apricot shaped ears. Smooth brown surface patina. Finely carved sculpture effective from all angles..
